At a meeting of Kenilworth Town Council on 7th June I urged HS2 Ltd to start the community engagement events in the town as soon as possible. These events had been promised more than six months ago and, from my doorstep conversations with local  residents, irs clear that there’s very little knowledge about the fact that work has already begun by the two major contractors and will oncrease significantly in the next 12 months.

Whilst the vast majority of people in the constituency of Kenilworth and Southam did not want HS2, and if I’d been elected as your MP I would definitely have voted against it, I do feel that we must try to engage constructively with the contractors. They will be spending money in the local community but, if we are to have a positive relationship, there must be clear, open and timely communications to local residents from HS2 Ltd about what they’re planning to do.
