Kenilworth station and Kenilworth school

by richarddickson on 2 June, 2018

History has a tendency to repeat itself. Unless we do something to stop it.

It’s now more than 2 months since Cllr Seccombe announced at a County Council meeting there’d be a review set up to look at the lessons to be learned from the problems with the Kenilworth station project. It’s also nearly five weeks since the train service started.

And yet, as far as I’m aware, the terms of reference of the review have still not been agreed. Neither has the name of the independent chair of the review been announced, let alone the names of people on the review group.

Do Conservative councillors want us to forget what a mess they made of this project? Kenilworth is about to start another massive capital investment project (Its new school) so it’s vital we record and learn the lessons from the mess that was the station project. Issues like multiple stakeholder management, communications to local residents and getting the health and safety spec right first time will be just as important in the school project as they proved to be problematic with the station.

I’m trying to find out what’s happening with this station review and I’ll post here when I’ve got some answers. The Council needs to break its silence.
